Larson and Paul Architects, located in Manhattan, is a mid-sized firm of architects and interior designers started in 2004 by Douglas Larson, AIA, and Rodman Paul, AIA. Together their firms’ past and current work includes institutional work throughout the New York metropolitan area, residences in the US and abroad, and commercial and retail work throughout the US.
From thoughtful consideration of client needs, and from precedents drawn from their deep knowledge of architectural history, the partners find an order to structure each project. They strongly believe that whether new work is marked by contrast to or by integration with cultural contexts, the subtleties of their signature style will enhance the environments they create.
Design concepts developed in the context of one project often find thematic connections in very different work. Studies for residential carpet and textile patterns inform color schemes for office design work; theater set designs generate solutions for retail display; studies for green commercial lighting strategies inform residential lighting solutions. The diversity of the partners’ projects injects life into them all.
Larson and Paul Architects have many years of experience with green building design and technology. With LEED AP staff, the principles and practices of environmentally sound planning form a core aspect of the firm’s work.
